How to design your logo of your brand and create a corporate design

Branding
Branding is all about how you want to be perceived

Hey friends :)

In this article I want to give you an insight of how I created my logo and how I designed my labels with a corporate identity in mind.

First things first: I kept it really simple and the only design programm I used was Canva. No Photoshop at all. No crazy pro editing skills were needed.

Canva is a great website (tool) to create your own designs. They have endless templates and a huge number of options to style everything you need in your way.

Let's begin with the logo: For the logo I had some ideas in mind and literally just screenshotted type of logos and colours I liked and remixed them with my name and my slogan. A great benefit of Canva is that they have endless design-templates you can chose from and I just clicked through them. I made some adjustments and I had my logo. Basically I just changed the backgorund colour and changed the fonts. At the end I had like three drafts and showed them to my family and friends for some feedback.

"Masala Sahil" - the brand name and logo for my spices.

Another point I like to mention is that I studied a lil bit of how designs work and logos and colours are perceived. I just read some articles to get familiar with the topic. I wanted to establish my product in the high price segment. I got much inspiration from perfume packaging and even coffee products. They are usually packed and designed in a luxurious way. From a distance you can tell, yes this product is kinda expensive. And I'm talking about the feeling you get not what the price tag says, u know.

Branding and creating a design is one major pillar in the whole block of marketing. There are endless things to keep in mind and even human psychology also plays a major role. There are countless books of how branding works and companies pay big amounts for studies and information. Anyway, back to the beginners reality: While doing research and dealing with the field of branding some general rules hit me on another level. Here are my favourite ones I'd like to point out:

"You have to sell feelings / emotions"

People don't buy the product, they often buy the feeling they get. Wearing a Gucci Jacket will keep you as warm as the one from Zara. You can drink Fiji water or you could also go for the no-name bottled water. Both will quench your thirst. It's the feeling, the vibe you get when you buy (unnecessary) expensive stuff. It puts you in the specific group- and people pay for being part of it / being a member. I always think about Apple as an example: They are doing a great job in terms of marketing. Apple users just feel they have something special just because it is from Apple.

"It is about the customer needs and not what you want and like"

With that being said you just have to find the middle. Of course you have to like it - you can't /should not sell a product which you don't suport, but at the end of the day, business means nothing else than serving the customer and making him happy. While creating a product we often look at the whole project / product as a consumer- instead we should change our perspective and try to understand their needs and how to fullfill them in the best way possible.

Alright, that were my insights and some background information about how I designed my Logo and the thoughts I put in the process. I would always emphasize to keep it simple and straight forward, especially in the beginning. Get the maximum done with all sources you have at the given moment.

Enjoy life and bless up !
